How to organize World Sangeeth Day in your location?

World Sangeeth Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of December - December 5 in 2026. For the convenience and flexibility for organizers, local communities and performers, celebrations may be organized on any day of the World Sangeeth Day weekend: December 4, 5, or 6, 2026 (Friday, Saturday or Sunday).

Organizing World Sangeeth Day in your location is simple and flexible. You have the freedom to shape the event in a way that reflects your local community.

Register with IMD Foundation.

First step: Register with IMD Foundation as a World Sangeeth Day Organizer — even if you have not yet finalized or booked a venue. Early registration helps us to coordinate with you from the beginning, provide useful resources such as a dedicated event webpage and promotional materials, feature your WSD event on our website and in our mailers, and promote your celebration through search engines and social media.

Find and secure a venue.

Find and secure a suitable public venue at little or no cost, such as a school, temple, auditorium, park, library, or community space. World Sangeeth Day celebrations should be held in welcoming public venues that are accessible and open to everyone, rather than in private residences or business offices. The spirit of World Sangeeth Day is to bring the community together through Indian classical music and dance; therefore, the event should be open to the public and offered free of charge.

Invite IMD performers.

Invite students, teachers, and performers in your community to perform in your World Sangeeth Day celebration. IMD Foundation will complement and support your outreach by spreading the word through its networks and motivating performers to participate in your event.

Promote WSD event.

Promote your World Sangeeth Day celebration in your area and community using flyers, social media, WhatsApp groups, newsletters, email campaigns, and other local networks to build awareness and invite community participation.

Coordinate with IMD Foundation.

Stay connected and work closely with the World Sangeeth Day team at IMD Foundation as you plan and host your local celebration. Our team is here to guide, support, and collaborate with you along the way, providing resources and assistance to help bring your World Sangeeth Day celebration to life as a successful and memorable event.

Funds for Basic Expenses

Strive to organize World Sangeeth Day at zero cost. Here’s how:

(1) Secure a Free Public Venue:

Look for venues that can be used at no cost. If the venue includes basic audio equipment, that’s a bonus.

Examples:

World Sangeeth Day is designed to be simple and community-driven. Since performers and venues collaborate voluntarily, there is no need for large production teams or complex logistics. However, some coordination and promotion effort—through volunteers or in-kind support—is essential, especially in the early stages.

(2) Check permits and insurance requirements:

Check with local government if you need any permits or insurances for public venues.

(3) Promote Sangeeth Day widely:

Public awareness and community engagement:

You can also collaborate with local institutions to spread the word through websites, newsletters, and community networks.

Smart funding

You can also raise small donations to help cover basic World Sangeeth Day expenses.

You can also welcome in-kind contributions, such as water bottles, snacks, and other simple essentials.
