A traditional Bharatanatyam school with a fresh approach to training, was established in 2012 in midtown Manhattan, New York. Rama Balachandran, the founder and director, offers customized classes in the practice, performance and theory of Bharatanatyam in the Kalakshetra pani, and the traditional folk dances of South India. Yuvalaya students have perfomed at Dag Hammerskoljd Plaza, Lucid Body House, Queens Museum of Arts, Hindu Temple, TLCA Ugadi celebration, NY Tamil Sangam Pongal celebration, New York public library branches in Queens and Manhattan and Governors Island.
